Number of persons who became Legal Permanent
Residents in Florida each year from 1996 to 2012
A Legal Permanent Resident is a person that has been authorized by the government to live and work permanently in the United States even though he or she is not a citizen. That authorization is sometimes referred to as a "green card." There are different ways to get a green card but the most common ways are through the application of a family member that is a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident or through the application of an employer who cannot find a qualified person in the geographic region to fill what is typically a specialized position.

Below are the number of immigrants that were granted legal residence in Florida each year from 1996 to 2012, according to the immigration statistics from the United States Department of Homeland Security.
